Please pray for my right hand

Postby Banned_from_FD » Sun Oct 07, 2007 3:12 pm

I work on a computer for a living, then I come home and surf the net, post on a few message boards, play a computer game.

Anyways, all this mousing with my right hand has caused carpal tunnel (however its spelled). My right hand feels like it is on fire all day long.

I need to use a computer for my living, so please pray the pain subsides.

In the meantime i have switched to my left hand but it feels awkward.

Thank you in advance.

Couple of thoughts...

Have you been diagnosed with carpal tunnel? That is a very specific condition that has to be diagnosed by a physician. Tendonitis is far more common. If it is tendonitis, rest and a bit of ibuprofin or a similar anti-inflamatory medication would be recommended. You could also try to ice it, 15 mins at a time max.

Of course I will also pray for you, but the Lord does not mind us being practical and taking care of ourselves as well.

YOu might also want to get one of those stationary mouses with the thumb ball. They are awkward, but they will allow you to switch up devices and rotate the tissues getting the most use.

Sorry to hear that. Will pray for your whole being. Anyways make sure you see a doctor ASAP. You may have to take a break from the computer to allow your hand to heal.............

Thanks for the kind thoughts.

No, i have not been to a doctor about it. I thought that there really is nothing to do for it. I already have a couple of perscriptions that I take daily and I really did not want to add more pills to my diet.

I will look into that tendonitis. Maybe you are correct.

Its a burning discomfort on the right side of my right hand. I still have lots of strength.

I hate getting old.

It's only in the mind :-)

I think people who are active in sports and other physical activities don't experience these kinds of problems (i.e, tendonitis, gouts, arthritis) but you can correct me if I'm wrong. My mom is already 73 yrs old and she's perfectly fit and looks young for her age. Her secret is a healthy lifestyle, proper diet, enough sleep and exercise.

I will pray for you though :-)

I am not that out of shape, maybe 10 or 15 extra pounds, i have really cleaned up my lifestyle in the last couple of years, i want to see my kid graduate from university and maybe even a grandchild or two before i die ;-)

its just from a repetitve use of my right hand on the mouse

9 hours at work each day and 2 to 4 hours each evening is taking its toll

Multi-tasking will solve your problem. Here are a few suggestions:
