Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Marina Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30, french kissed eachother and sang a song called "Holy Sh--" on
the alter of Moscow’s Christ the Saviour Cathedral. The three women were sentenced to 2 years in prison on August 17, 2012 for this crime.

These women are not your average protesters. Their stunts include public sex acts and making gross sexual comments about the Virgin Mary and Jesus (the sort of thing that would get them killed if they said it about Muhammad). Not surprised Hollywood and Obama like them. I think they are nasty women and there is a reason most Russians can't stand them. In Russia the media doesn't sanitize them the way our media seems to be doing.

Pussy Riot found guilty of anti-religious ‘hooliganism’ for church protest

MOSCOW — Three members of a feminist punk band were found guilty on Friday of hooliganism motivated by religious hatred for staging an anti-Kremlin protest in a church, in a case that supporters say put President Vladimir Putin’s tolerance of dissent on trial.

State prosecutors want the women from the Pussy Riot group jailed for three years over the protest in February in Moscow’s Christ the Saviour Cathedral, but the judge did not immediately issue a sentence as she read out the long verdict.

The three young women, in handcuffs, stood in silence in a glass courtroom cage and at times smiled and laughed to each other as the judge, Marina Syrova, read out the verdict.

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, 22, Marina Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30, stormed the altar of Moscow’s Christ the Saviour Cathedral in February wearing bright ski masks, tights and short skirts and sang a “punk prayer” urging the Virgin Mary to rid Russia of Putin.

“Tolokonnikova, Samutsevich and Alyokhina committed an act of hooliganism, a gross violation of public order showing obvious disrespect for society,” the judge said.

She said their brief protest was based on “motives of religious hatred and enmity”.

Though few Russians have much sympathy for the women, Putin’s opponents portray the trial as part of a wider crackdown by the former KGB spy to crush their protest movement. Foreign stars led by Madonna – who performed in Moscow with “PUSSY RIOT” painted on her back – have campaigned for the trio’s release, and Washington says the case is politically motivated.

“Our imprisonment is a clear and distinct sign that the whole country’s freedom is being taken away,” Tolokonnikova, 22, said in a letter written in jail and posted on the Internet before the verdict on Friday by defence lawyer Mark Feigin.

Police blocked off the street outside the brick courthouse in Moscow with metal barriers, and police buses stood by as a large crowd gathered. Four people were detained when they unfurled a banner reading: “Free Pussy Riot.”

The trial has divided Russia’s mainly Orthodox Christian society, with many backing the authorities’ demands for severe punishment over a protest the prosecution has described as sacrilege, but others asking for clemency for the women.

Putin, who returned to the presidency for a third term in May and a four-year spell as prime minister, has said the women did “nothing good” but should not be judged too harshly.

“The girls went too far, but they should be fined and released,” said Alexei, a 30-year-old engineer on a Moscow street near the court. He declined to give his family name.

But Valentina Ivanova, 60, a retired doctor, could not hide her outrage, saying: “What they did showed disrespect towards everything, and towards believers first of all.

”Let them get three years in jail; they need to wise up.“

An opinion poll of Russians released by the independent Levada research group on Friday showed only 6 percent had sympathy with the women, 51 percent said they found nothing good about them or felt irritation or hostility, and the rest were unable to say or were indifferent.

Tolokonnikova, Alyokhina and Samutsevich are educated, middle-class Russians who say their protest was intended to highlight close ties between the Russian Orthodox Church and Putin, not to offend believers.

The charges against Pussy Riot raised concern abroad about freedom of speech in Russia two decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Protests in support of the group were planned on Friday in cities from Sydney to Paris, and New York to London, and a long list of international celebrities have backed their cause.

Here is the Russian perspective, which I prefer to the western idolizing of these crude women who like to engage in public sex acts in church buildings where they are not invited....

Pussy Riot, Russian culture and intrusion

An international campaign has been launched to send a petition to President Putin based on the human rights of the three girls comprising Pussy Riot, a Russian punk rock band, who shocked Russian public opinion by behaving in a blasphemous and disrespectful way in Christ the Saviour Cathedral, Moscow, last March.

The three girls (or would it be appropriate to say sluts?) concerned, named Nadia, Masha and Katya, are educated young women who thought they had the right to enter a sacred space and behave in a wholly inappropriate way, desecrating the Cathedral with their disgusting, lewd, blasphemous and diabolical act of disrespect, an insult to Russian culture, an insult to the Church and an insult to God Himself.

The western response is as risible as it is evident that their own justice systems depend not upon justice itself but upon external pressure and even more ridiculous is the attempt to involve people such as Madonna, more famous for prancing around on stage with a dildo strapped between her legs than for her Gravitas in things serious and behaving with the apparent depravity of some sex-starved nympho rather than acting like a lady in her fifties.

And who is this other one making a noise? Yoko Ono, the one who sprang to fame because she slept with John Lennon and made films about people's bottoms?

Well with friends and sponsors like these, we see very clearly who and what Pussy Riot is. The Russian Federation has its laws and its Constitution and for a start, respects international law to the letter, far better than many of the nations which are kicking up such a fuss. Secondly, the Russian Federation does not need lessons in how to conduct a judicial process because if anyone wants any examples as to how, for example, processes are conducted in the United Kingdom, there are some excellent examples which could be provided.

For instance, in the UK, if you are a member of the public and you steal a plasma TV set or a bottle of mineral water, you go to jail where you are abused by other prisoners and probably end up getting Hepatitis and AIDS. If you are a member of Parliament and you steal a plasma TV set using taxpayers' money, or if you put your gardening expenses on the public expense list, or moreover, if you steal an entire house using taxpayers' money, you do not go to jail, you make a public statement such as "If I have to pay anything back, then I shall".

Thirdly, the hysteria which there days goes for news in the western media outlets yet again shapes public opinion, hype and tripe replace objective facts and the result is something along the lines of a medieval witch hunt: I saw a snake come out of her backside, BURN HER!!

In the forthcoming days the three females will be judged on the charge of "Hooliganism" which is the term in Russian covering what they did. Let us suppose three scruffy males walked into the Sacré Coeur, Canterbury Cathedral or the National Catherdal in Washington DC, and started a "performance" asking the Virgin Mary to remove Obama, Cameron or Hollande from power, kissing each other with tongues in mouths and stating that the Head of the National Church worshipped the Head of State and not God. No big deal? OK then, supposing the Russian Federation then launched a campaign to organise petitions to send to the leaders of the respective countries. Yes, exactly.

And further, did the Russian Federation organise international petitions when the FUKUS Axis illegally invaded Libya, armed and supported terrorists, sent aircraft to murder the Gaddafi grandchildren, strafed civilian structures with military hardware and destroyed the Libyan electricity grid to "break the people's backs"?

It is up to the Russians to deal with judicial questions on Russian soil, nobody else. If these three females insulted their culture and broke the law, then it is up to a Russian judge in a Russian court of law to mete out the appropriate judgement after a trial.

How dare the west speak about law after the way they have behaved in Afghanistan., Iraq , Libya and now Syria.

Oh and by the way the Changes international petition was organised by the Canadian female "Peaches", who appears with a full beard on her album "Fatherf*cker" and who is the author of songs like "F*ck the pain away".

The main reason this has generated so much publicity is Russia has said no to gay pride(shame) parades & abortion. Filthy perverted celebrities who so many inordinately idolize & the liberal MSM media have jumped on this to generate feigned sympathy for these Christian hating beasts and whores all who hate God's Laws and do their best to demonize and denigrate them. Meanwhile these same ungodly false, hypocritical, big mouth, blowhards making their hard phony speeches are silent on the daily Islamic oppression and killings of innocents who are attacked and murdered for minding their own business and trying to live their daily lives.

Soon after the incident, residents of the area had gathered to lodge their protest. The protesters also allegedly beat up the girl and her mother, while the rest of the girl’s family managed to escape.

The Kashmir Highway was also blocked by the protesters, but they dispersed after the police lodged an FIR of the case and took Rifta into custody.

The girl has been sent to a juvenile jail on judicial remand.

The cross was erected on the hill overlooking Independence Square to honour the victims of Stalinist purges, who were tortured and killed in what is now Oktyabrsky Palace.

Jude (14) And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,(15) To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are Ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. (16) These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage. Pussy Riot forgiven by Russian Orthodox Church, but members hope they ‘realize that their acts are awful’
Mansur Mirovalev, Associated Press | Aug 18, 2012 10:53 AM ET
http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/08/18 ... ot-church/

MOSCOW — Two top clerics in the Russian Orthodox Church said Saturday that it has forgiven the members of feminist punk band Pussy Riot who were convicted of hooliganism and sent to prison for briefly taking over a cathedral in a raucous prayer for deliverance from Vladimir Putin.

Tikhon Shevkunov, who heads Moscow’s Sretensky Monastery and is widely believed to be the Russian president’s spiritual counsellor, said on state television Saturday that his church forgave the singers right after their “punk prayer” in the Christ the Savior Cathedral in Moscow in February.

“The church has been sometimes accused of not forgiving them,” the bearded and bespectacled cleric said. “We did forgive them from the very start. But such actions should be cut short by society and authorities.”

Archpriest Maxim Kozlov agreed, but he also said on state TV that his church hopes the young women and their supporters change their ways.

“We are simply praying and hoping that these young women and all these people shouting in front of the court building, committing sacrilegious acts not only in Russia but in other countries, realize that their acts are awful,” he said. “And despite this the church is asking for mercy within the limits of law.”

Both clerics supported the court’s decision to prosecute Pussy Riot, despite an international outcry that called it unfair. Governments, including those in the United States, Britain, France and Germany, denounced the sentences as disproportionate.

The Pussy Riot case has underlined the vast influence of the Russian Orthodox Church. Although church and state are formally separate, the church identifies itself as the heart of Russian national identity and critics say its strength effectively makes it a quasi-state entity. Some Orthodox groups and many believers had urged strong punishment for an action they consider blasphemous.

The head of the church, Patriarch Kirill, has made no secret of his strong support for Putin, praising his leadership as “God’s miracle,” and he describing the punk performance as part of an assault by “enemy forces” on the church.

The Orthodox Church said in a statement after Friday’s verdict that the band’s stunt was a “sacrilege” and a “reflection of rude animosity toward millions of people and their feelings.” It also asked the authorities to “show clemency toward the convicted in the hope that they will refrain from new sacrilegious actions.”
