The Los Angeles abortion clinic where partial-birth abortions were invented has been shut down -- a possible indication of a pro-life trend, says one activist.

Eve Surgical Center's business dates back to the 1980s, when it operated as a secret clinic until it was discovered by Operation Rescue in the early 1990s. After partial-birth abortions were banned by law, the process was modified so that the procedure began with a fatal injection into the unborn baby's heart before the child's body was extracted.

Operation Rescue celebrates the end of the notorious abortuary's services, and Troy Newman, president of the pro-life activist group, tells OneNewsNow the closing of Eve Surgical Center is part of a trend that is encouraging for the pro-life cause.

"Think about it -- the place that has the clinical trials for partial-birth abortion is closed," he notes. "The nation's largest abortion facility, George Tiller's abortion clinic, is now closed. In fact, a very significant victory in another city, where 70 pro-life pastors committed to continue working until abortion is outlawed, is now Operation Rescue's national headquarters, and we're seeing 70 percent of the nation's abortion clinics close."

Newman looks to the book of Proverbs to inspire hope for pro-life prayer warriors, and also to issue a warning for those who take life through abortion: "The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion … [And] if one is burdened with the blood of another, he will be a fugitive until death; let no one help him" (Proverbs 28:1,17).

Meanwhile, pro-lifers who maintained vigils at two Michigan abortion clinics are celebrating that a state court has shut the facilities down. (Listen to audio report)

An Eaton County Circuit Court judge's signature submitted to the court on Friday, Nov. 18 effectively closed two Woman's Choice Clinics -- one in Saginaw, the other in Lansing. Monica Miller heads Citizens for a Pro-life Society and tells OneNewsNow that concludes a 21-month effort.

"This is all really the consequence of pro-lifers getting active and doing something about illegal activity at these clinics," she explains.

Evidence of such included the discovery of confidential patient records tossed into garbage dumpsters and the fact that the centers were not legally incorporated -- something the owner had been warned about before.

"Richard Remund is forever barred from being on any level the part of an incorporation of a medical facility in Michigan," Miller reports.

The clinics operated without a medical director and employed two traveling abortionists to handle the cases. In the dumpster of one facility, pro-life warrior Chris Veneklase found the bodies of 17 aborted babies in containers. But the Citizens for a Pro-life Society director recognizes that those children ultimately helped contribute to the closure of the two abortuaries.

"It's one year ago almost to the day, November 20th of 2010, that those babies were buried," Miller recalls. "So now, one year later, the abortion clinic where they met their deaths is no longer in existence."
